As the U.S. Department of Labor faces devastating cuts and staff layoffs, the Women's Bureau and its WANTO program hang in the balance. Since 1920, the Women's Bureau has championed the rights of working women. Through WANTO, it helps women access high-wage careers where they remain severely underrepresented.
With women making up less than 4% of skilled trades workers while comprising 70% of low-wage workers, these programs are crucial bridges to financial security. Our nation faces critical shortages in skilled trades workers, and the Women's Bureau helps employers develop effective recruitment strategies that benefit businesses and the broader economy.
When we undermine the Women's Bureau and WANTO, we weaken America's workforce and limit opportunity for all. We must protect #ProtectWomensBureau! @SecretaryLCD @usdol #HandsOffDOL #NeedWANTO #TWTF @equalrightsadv
